This newsletter is an experiment based on a major assumption.

Assumption: People who work in travel are starved for opinionated commentary on the business, and they’re often avid travelers themselves. Those who love to travel are curious to peek behind the curtain and understand the business dynamics that create the travel products we all enjoy.

In that spirit, I write two types of posts:

• Travel business commentary based on my experience working in the industry

• Travel curation and tips based on my own travels and research

About Jess Peterson

I have planned vacations, at scale, for 10 years. I’ve always been a nerd about travel, hospitality, and transportation. My professional life started with an internship at Carnival Cruise Line doing itinerary planning. I subsequently worked at Holland America Line, Windstar Cruises, and Hurtigruten Expeditions in itinerary planning roles. At Hurtigruten I also led the customer experience function and led the preliminary process for a newbuild ship, from project definition to architect selection to GA development to shipyard selection.
